Our Mission
To enable self-protection by developing proficiency in jujitsu technique, and to represent these proficiencies through personal commitment and dedication as a true Martial Artist.
Our Vision
Support the values of commitment and dedication to personal growth within the school, and encourage these fundamentals to others to develop individual strengths, abilities and proficiency in jujitsu.
What We Teach
Jujitsu (Japanese translation-“the gentle art”) is a style of self-defense that focuses on joint manipulation, pressure points, and redirecting the weight of attackers against themselves. This self-defense program will offer the training, understanding, and practical experience needed to defer or incapacitate an aggressive attacker.
The Westover School of Self-Defense is a family-oriented class, whereas each member of the class is there for personal development and growth, but also there for each other’s development as well. When one succeeds… we all succeed, when one is having difficulty… we all work together as a team to drive the best outcome of personal strengths and abilities. This is a class not like most. Our success is measured individually, not by comparing to others, but by comparing to oneself as the student develops their own personal objectives and capabilities.
This is an environment that we strive to bring the best out of each person, push each limitation, and expand our knowledge and abilities of how to self- protect from aggressive attackers.
With this great ability comes great responsibility. Students are expected to represent a true martial artist both inside the dojo and outside of the dojo walls. A true martial artist refrains from the need for power, aggression, and violence, but is fully prepared and able to address a situation if the need arises.
